The second quarter of the senior design sequence involves the development of original bioengineering designs as solutions to problems in biology or medicine. Topics cover needs and risk assessment, specifications, stakeholder interviews, alternatives analysis and technical communication. Constraints are considered such as economic issues, manufacturing and quality assurance, engineering standards, and ethics and safety. The senior design sequence includes numerous communication deliverables including oral and poster presentations, formal written engineering reports, web page and notebook.
3-Unit Fall Design Course (BENG 188A)
Fall quarter 3-unit design course is taken alongside BENG 187B and involves the hands-on development of original bioengineering designs to solve problems in a particular discipline within bioengineering.
